Higantes Festival 2012 Schedule of Activities

Celebrate with the locals of Angono, Rizal as the Higantes (giant caricatures made of papier-mâché) marches the streets of the town. Higantes Festival is a two-week event which is celebrated in commemoration of the feast of the town’s Patron, Saint Clement. This century-old festival is observed with street processions, fluvial parade, concerts, beauty contest, cultural competitions, among others. Of course, the foodie treats will never be absent. Buglasan Festival 2012 Schedule of Activities

Buglasan festival is celebrated annually in the province of Negros Oriental every October since 2002. Though this is a province-wide event (sponsored by the provincial government), the activities are mostly centered in the province’ capital, Dumaguete City. Like Aliwan Festival of the cities of Pasay and Manila, Buglasan is dubbed as festival of festivals wherein every constituent towns and cities have their own representative and will be presenting their best. Trekking to Taal Volcano Main Crater the Second Time Around

I was slowly drawing out my left foot that was stucked in the red mud when I smelled a rancid odor. It was a hydrogen sulfide-adulterated smoke that tried to escape from the earth fissures. Though dog-tired, it felt like a thorn was being pulled out of my throat. “Yes!”, I exclaimed, “I am close!”. I could see the resting huts uphill, the summit of Taal Volcano Crater. Inside Father Burgos Museum (Vigan)

If your going to Vigan, don’t forget to include Father Burgos Museum in your itinerary. The museum is located beside Ilocos Sur Provincial Capitol and is few minutes walk from Kalye Crisologo, Vigan Cathedral, or Plaza Salcedo. The Museum is also declared as a satellite museum of the National Museum. Inside the museum are historical dioramas, portrait exhibit of Ilocos influential personalities, archaeological and historical artifacts, collection of Father Burgos memorabilia and photographs, family antiques, and jewelries. An Afternoon in Paoay

The first day of my Ilocos adventure was spent in Paoay. It was 2PM when our flight from Manila arrived in Laoag but it was already passed 3PM when I checked-in to my accommodation. After a very short rest and settling my stuff in place, I headed to a Paoay-bound jeepney terminal. My 4-day Ilocos Tour started in Paoay and ended in Laoag City. I didn’t take a travel agency and I visited most of Ilocos tourists spots by commuting. Below is my quick Ilocos itinerary. Pagudpud Tour Cycle: See Pagudpud Wonders for 600 Pesos

I spent the third day of my Ilocos Tour in the north of Laoag, Ilocos Norte. That includes the towns of Bangui, Burgos, and Pagudpud. The Laoag-Pagudpud v/v terminal is located near the corner of Gen. Antonio Luna and Gov. Julio Agcaoili Streets (back of Ilocos Norte Capitol). First Trip leaves at 8AM, travel time is 2 hours, and costs around ₱60. Make sure to prepare the exact fare, bus conductors don’t usually return your change when you don’t ask for it especially when they know you’re a tourist.
