Things to do in Quezon Province

Quezon Province was my point of interest in the last two months. I spent my pre-birthday beach camp in Padre Burgos with quick visits to some random beauties in the municipality including the neighboring Pagbilao. The week after that, I included Lucban, Quezon in my eastern Laguna road trip. The following weekend, I ventured alone to see the rumored island in the southernmost tip of Bondoc Peninsula, also in Quezon Province. And, just lately, I brought some of my office mates to spend a night on the island off the coast of Mauban. From that series of trips, I was ... Read more

Cagbalete: The Unveiling of the Ebbing Tide

I started to feel dizzy and uncomfortable when the bus became shaky all of a sudden. The clock above the driver’s seat ticked to 12 noon. I saw no signs of Lucena yet. Four hours had passed and yet we were still in the middle of a dusty and rocky road. Then I thought, where the hell are we. I immediately grabbed my phone and hoped that we were located under a cellular coverage. All the worries subsided when I found out (via Google map) that we were in Sariaya, Quezon, a neighboring town. Traffic were just rerouted due to ... Read more

Interesting Things to Do in Sagada

Sagada is one of the few places in the Philippines that preserved indigeneity. Pre-Spanish burial customs; freakish way to remember the dead (panag-apoy); barter change; strong influence of the local tribal leaders called Dap-ay; and strange planting, harvesting, and wedding ceremonies – all these are still part of the ways of life of Sagada people. Located in the central Cordillera Mountain Range, reaching it is…a bit of a challenge. But don’t think about the butt-numbing ride because an awesome adventure is waiting on the other side. A Night Walk in Lucban, Quezon

From Kamay Ni Hesus, I took a tricycle to Lucban Church (a.k.a Church of Saint Louis of Toulouse). It was already past 6:00 in the evening, but I still wanted to see the church and try pancit habhab, a local delicacy. I never thought of the last public transport schedule to my next stop. All I have in mind that time was to complete my three objectives in Lucban. In a blink, I found myself beside the church. I immediately positioned myself to get a good angle of the stunning facade which got even more majestic at night with the glow ... Read more
