Buddha’s Surf Resort: Siargao’s Sweet Spot

I still had a worn-out look when we approached Buddha’s Surf Resort. We got no chance to tidy up a bit nor a moment to wipe the sweaty faces of ours before meeting the manager of the hotel we’re staying. Thanks to the extra long navigation from Surigao City to the Municipality of  Dapa, the 30-minute cramped tricycle transfer from Dapa to General Luna (GL), and the nasty habal-habal ride from GL town proper to the resort. If you want to avoid all these road hassles, contact the resort days prior and arrange a pick-up transportation of your choice. If you’re ... Read more

Camiguin’s Stations of the Cross

Thinking for a place to contemplate this Lenten season? Why not try visiting the Walkway to the Old Volcano in the island province of Camiguin. The place features a traditional Stations of Cross (Via Crucis) which stops are spread across a trail of average steepness. They said that the total length of the trail is 8 kilometers but it seemed shorter during our visit. The early part of the trail, probably up to the fifth stations (if I remember well), is pave with concrete stairs. The remaining portion of the pathway is somewhat a little penitence. This very spot is ... Read more

Katibawasan Falls Camiguin: Thrilled and Chilled

Katibawasan Falls is located 5 kilometers away from the town center of Mambajao and sits at the foot of Mount Timpoong, the highest peak in Camiguin Island. It measures 250 ft. (76 meters) and plummets to a pool surrounded with lush greeneries. We headed to the falls after dipping for almost two hours in the waters around the White Island. It was a long steep travel for a 5-kilometer distance. We noticed that the surrounding of the falls were already developed for tourists. We found a lot of souvenir shops along the entrance. There were also small stores that sell snacks. ... Read more

White Island Camiguin: A Floating Gem

From afar it shimmers, seems enticing every gazing individuals from the main island’s shore. The White Island in Camiguin is like a floating gem wherein you’ll be tempted to touch it once you see it. You want to feel its texture, dazzle its luster, seize its beauty, and experience its wonder. White Island is pure white sand island that floats 1.4 km (0.87 mi) off the northern coast of Mambajao, Camiguin’s capital. The tide constantly re-size and reshape the island and sometimes divide it into even smaller islets. The island was the first stop of the day 2 of our Camiguin ... Read more

4R’s Foodhaus and Family KTV Bar Camiguin: Lutong Bahay Eat All You Can

After dipping around the waters of White Island and immersing in the cold splatters of Katibawasan Falls for half day, there was no other person who was hungrier than us in the island. So we asked our multi-cab driver/tour guide to bring us to place where we can fully indulge our food lust. He brought us to 4R’s Foodhaus and Family KTV Bar. For ₱125.00, we gobbled a banquet of Filipino home-made dishes (lutong-bahay). Yes, it was an all-you-can-eat experience. However, no matter how much we tried to taste everything in the buffet table, some dishes ran out so often. Unarguably, they do have a lot of ... Read more

Villa Paraiso Resort Camiguin: The Experience

As the trip’s organizer, I should make sure that my companies get the utmost comfort at a cheaper price. Months before our actual trip to Camiguin, I had been researching for hotels or resorts in the island which features, rates, and services meet the group’s requirements – until I stumble to the website of Villa Paraiso Resort. I wasn’t impressed at first because of the dull design of their online page and they’re not even responsive to emails (you really have to call them for advance booking). I was interested on their dormitory type accommodation, wherein, for PhP3,000, it can ... Read more
