Concepcion Travel Guide: Stunning Island Wonders of Iloilo

As I always share, I find peace in three things. Those are: listening to a favorite country music while seated next to a window during long bus rides; gazing at a sunset or a starry night as the cold, gentle breeze gives me a comforting chill; and staring through the horizon with a white beach on the foreground and green massifs with a blue sky on the backdrop. Bulobadiangan Island Sandbar: Undeniably a stunner With my unending search for peace, I found Concepcion, a small town in Iloilo that hides a beautiful gem. The Bulobadiangan, Agho, and Pan de Azucar Islands are ... Read more

Easy Diving and Beach Resort: Your Getaway Home in Sipalay

I couldn’t be sure if the sundown has passed. My phone ran out of juice and there was no other way for me to check the time. The sky was rather gloomy that day. Fine drizzles wetted the upper part of my shirt, which gave me an unusual chill. I stopped by at a mobile snack bar to get some siopao and refreshment. I remembered that I skipped lunch, so I had to grab some bites to fuel up. Not to mention, it was my birthday and I spent most of my day on the road. Traveling more than 15 ... Read more

Alona Beach, Panglao: Just Another Staycation

I was back after 12 years. The port looked really different and I couldn’t find any familiar edifice. There were no foreign traces nevertheless, still I felt ‘twas my first. Though a ride along the hilly terrain caused me deja vu. It was 2003 when I first stepped Bohol for a Regional Schools’ Press Conference and I didn’t have any follow up visit after that. So after more than a decade, I felt I wasn’t been there before. Boat for Island Hopping My purpose wasn’t an island tour but a staycation in Alona Beach, the province’s priced beachfront. Situated in ... Read more

Overnight Camp in Fortune Island: Stories and Memories

With my right foot on the 6-inch street gutter, my left extended a bit backwards, and my torso slightly leaning forward, my lap was strong enough to support my 8-kg crammed backpack. But before I did the drill, I had my eyes scanned the surroundings. I was in Pasay so I was a bit wary to the passersby. When I felt it was safe to open my bag, I searched for my face towel, unzipping almost every pockets. I believe that it was the downside of making last minute preparations, locating stuff would not be easy. It was just 4:00AM ... Read more

Salagdoong Beach and the Man-made Molave Forest of Siquijor

I could feel the biting chill as we whisked along the narrow passage to Salagdoong beach. The morning sun was barely peeking through the amalgamation of leaves and branches forming an archway. Passing through the man-made Molave forest felt like royal. According to my habal-habal driver, the man-made forest is 60 years in the making and stretches nearly two kilometers. The forest offers comforting shades and exhibits a relaxing ambiance to all beach goers. The man-mad Molave forest going to Salagdoong beach Salagdoong Beach Resort The other end of the engineered woodland is Salagdoong Beach Resort. The government manages the area ... Read more

Cagbalete: The Unveiling of the Ebbing Tide

I started to feel dizzy and uncomfortable when the bus became shaky all of a sudden. The clock above the driver’s seat ticked to 12 noon. I saw no signs of Lucena yet. Four hours had passed and yet we were still in the middle of a dusty and rocky road. Then I thought, where the hell are we. I immediately grabbed my phone and hoped that we were located under a cellular coverage. All the worries subsided when I found out (via Google map) that we were in Sariaya, Quezon, a neighboring town. Traffic were just rerouted due to ... Read more

From the moment I saw the photos of Alibijaban from Manong Unyol, I always to wanted to visit the island – even if it means going alone. I made several attempts the past weekend, but a lot of things happened that eventually delayed my trip. So I marked Alibijaban Island an elusive destination.
