Its beach may not be as powdery nor as popular as Boracay and Palawan’s but its water is equally pristine and clear. The dark, dull rocks that protrudes from the fine ivory sand set a grody yet spectacular contrast in the beach front. The slopy terrain of the coastal area offers an unusual experience wherein you can do quick sand surf, slide, or build a hillside sand palace.

These photos were taken during our weekend trip to the towns of Burgos and Dasol in Pangasinan. These were the fruits of enduring a 5-hour loud bus ride, then an hour of sweaty jeepney traverse, and an hour of bumpy tricycle drive. Featured sites are Cabongaoan beach, Tambobong white beach, Snake or Culebra Island, Cabacungan cave, and Osmeña cave. The story or stories behind these photos will come out soon.

It was Sunday (January 13, 2013) afternoon and we run out of resources (water and food) and staying a little longer in the cove would mean a sacrifice so we took the risk of crossing the violent sea.

I’m easily get dragged lately. My friends’ invites don’t need some sort of persuasion and my nods don’t show any stain of hesitation. It is even surprising that I was able to exchange sleeping (my favorite pastime ever) with exhausting activities. Ironic, isn’t it? Well, as they say, we have to get out from our comfort zones sometimes – and I am taking it literally.

Celebrate with the locals of Angono, Rizal as the Higantes (giant caricatures made of papier-mâché) marches the streets of the town. Higantes Festival is a two-week event which is celebrated in commemoration of the feast of the town’s Patron, Saint Clement. This century-old festival is observed with street processions, fluvial parade, concerts, beauty contest, cultural competitions, among others. Of course, the foodie treats will never be absent.

Buglasan festival is celebrated annually in the province of Negros Oriental every October since 2002. Though this is a province-wide event (sponsored by the provincial government), the activities are mostly centered in the province’ capital, Dumaguete City. Like Aliwan Festival of the cities of Pasay and Manila, Buglasan is dubbed as festival of festivals wherein every constituent towns and cities have their own representative and will be presenting their best.
