Maguindanao Massacre: Unparalleled Mass Annihilation in the Annals of Political Violence

We are one of those who are deeply in grief for the lost of more than 50 lives, most of whom are women, media men and unarmed, who are unmercifully annihilated. The massacre is very inhuman, uncivilized and demonic making the scene as the worst in the annals of political and media violence in any country.

The perpetrators are known to be the political rival of the Mangudadatu (victim, prime target), whose clan members are holding top political positions in Maguindanao and nearby provinces. Mangudadatu is on her way to file her candidacy for the upcoming 2010 election, along with her lawyers and media men who accompany them to bear witness when more than 100 armed man stopped their caravan, took them to a remote place, shot to death and some where buried alive. These gunmen are identified as the members of the private army of the Ampatuan clan.

This heinous crime is a candid picture of political greed, to which its proponent does not believe any democratic election process and a 'threat' for them are just easily eliminated.

Justice must be served well, and we are hoping that the government must do appropriate actions to execute all answerable perpetrators whether they are the most powerful warlords or just an ordinary citizen. If the government fail to bring down these attackers, then the country would become vulnerable to such assaults in the forthcoming days, thus, threatens the once instilled democracy and the once enjoyed peace. We are hoping that this will be resolved before the election to unable any suspect to run for any public office.

We are hoping that we will not wait in vain.
